Sister School Visit

Tenmacho Elementary School Visit 2011

A feature of the Japanese LOTE program is the reciprocal educational exchange program with our sister school, Tenma-Cho Elementary School situated in Shizuoka Japan. In October this year, a group of three teachers and ten grade 5 & 6 students were chosen to visit Tenmacho Elementary School.  The visit to Japan provided for the group an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Japan, enhance their basic language skills and to experience some of the culture and sights of Japan.

The program consisted of two parts: -

• The first part was a short stay in Kyoto . The group visited modern and traditional tourist sites, travelled on the rail system, purchased items in shopping centres and ordered food in local restaurants and cafes. 
• The second part was a family and schooling experience where the students and supervising staff  lived with a Japanese family and attended Tenmacho Elementary School.
